After going from stock HifiMan cables to upgrade HifiMan crystaline copper cables i searched for a last upgrade - and i have found it.
Sound:
While the stock cables are definitely not "bad" in the sense of crackling, distortion or 4€ airplane throw-away in-ears, the HifiMan upgrade cables were an overall noticeable improvement. Again - not night and day, and with the need for well known (personal test) tracks, focus and silence. So anything "better" is less a question of "better", but subtle nuance and the overall question of "Do you like the sound?".
And yeah, i love it. Though i have even more expensive silver infused cables for other headphones (where they can help them shine more), these copper based from Arachne are IMO the perfect match for all my HifMan's. YMMV, every head, ears and tastes are different - but for me, from lows to highs, classic to Metal and EDM - i simply love the sound.
Connectors:
I deliberately opted for all Furutech connectors, bc always wanted/never got the opportunity. Yeah: it was the right decision. They are just "wow", and of excpetional quality. Touch, look and function wise. I have a lot of cables for my headphone collection with mid to very good connectors and 0 problems - they all do what they should. But if you really look for that last bit/sweetest icing on the cake - highly recommended.
Overall:
Shop, buying, shipping etc. - all great. But perhaps the most important: perfect handcraft! The weaving is impeccable. Looks are just georgeous (just imagine the colours you personally like), it feels very well made, is very satisfying to touch and handle. The leather splitter is another tiny thing of "really awesome". And i have 0 problems with praticality (cable noise, memory). You can overall witness that a lot of work goes into making these. Though i can say nothing on long term reliability - from what i see in front of me, and others say - i can only highly suspect they will hold up for many years, especially bc only used@home/stationary@headphone amp.
Roundup:
While changing/testing/improving your hifi/headphone setup IS meaningful and fun, chasing an - imaginary, unreachable - Dragon/Ghost, while highly addictive, IS NOT. And can feel empty, cold and frustrating in the end.
Lest we forget: in it's true core, it's all about the time enjoying your favourite music - and nothing else.
Yes - there may be "better" headphone cables out there, but they go well past that point of diminishing returns IMO, for 2x,3x,5x,20x the cost - so i really can't care less.
Those Arachne Aranea provide me 99,9% of all i could ever want or need, and are my personal perfect sweet spot.
So Arachne: well done, thank you - and please continue. I sure look forward to replace one or the other cable with a custom beauty of your making.
