The Sony WH-1000XM5 redesigned the ear cup geometry compared to the XM4: a new oval shape, a cleaner headband profile, and slightly refined ANC. The stock pads are leatherette — the same material failure mode as every other Sony ANC headphone, eventually peeling and cracking under daily use. Dekoni's XM5-specific fit addresses this with two material options.
Available materials
Choice Leather: Protein leather, memory foam fill. Maintains the seal geometry the WH-1000XM5's ANC depends on. More durable than the stock leatherette without changing the closed presentation the headphone was designed around.
Choice Suede: Microsuede, memory foam fill. Noticeably cooler than leather during warm weather or extended wear. The ANC seal remains adequate; the bass emphasis decreases marginally. Worth it if the XM5's default sound reads as too heavy in the low end for your use case.
Drop-in fit. Genuine Dekoni pads, stocked and sold by Arachne Audio in Tallinn.
