The HiFiMan Arya and Ananda sit in the middle of HiFiMan's planar range: open-back, technically capable, and priced for serious listeners rather than the Susvara's stratospheric territory. Both deliver the wide soundstage and low-frequency extension that planar magnetic drivers do well. The pads contribute to both the acoustic performance and the extended-wear comfort of headphones this size.
Available materials
Elite Velour: Memory foam fill, velour face. Preserves the Arya and Ananda's open, detailed presentation. The Arya's reputation for wide soundstaging is partially pad-dependent; velour keeps that intact while improving durability and pressure distribution.
Elite Sheepskin: Real sheepskin, solid face. Adds bass weight and reduces the perceived treble extension slightly. On a headphone with as much low-frequency capability as the Arya, sheepskin brings the presentation toward a more relaxed, fuller sound.
Elite Fenestrated Sheepskin: Perforated sheepskin. The balanced option: leather construction with the perforations keeping acoustic airflow and the broad soundstage more open than solid sheepskin would allow. A technically sensible choice for a headphone defined by its spatial presentation.
Elite Hybrid: Velour face, leather surrounds. Acoustic neutrality with thermal management. The Arya's weight and the listening sessions it invites make long-wear comfort a real consideration, and the hybrid construction addresses this without altering the tuning.
