The HiFiMan Susvara and HE1000se are at the top of HiFiMan's planar magnetic range: open-back, large format, extraordinarily demanding in terms of amplifier power, and correspondingly detailed and transparent when driven properly. At this price point, the pads matter. Both models share the same ear cup geometry and Dekoni options.
Available materials
Elite Velour: The acoustically conservative choice. The Susvara and HE1000se are precision instruments; velour preserves the tuning character that makes them worth the investment. Improved memory foam fill distributes the considerable weight of these headphones more evenly across the ear, which matters during long critical listening sessions.
Elite Sheepskin: Real sheepskin, firm seal. Adds low-end body and warmth to a platform that can read as lean through neutral amplification. At the Susvara's sensitivity requirements, a slightly warmer pad choice can make extended listening more comfortable without masking the detail.
Elite Fenestrated Sheepskin: Perforated sheepskin. Leather construction with preserved acoustic openness. For a headphone defined by its soundstage and transparency, fenestrated sheepskin targets the sensible middle ground: premium materials without the full acoustic closure of solid leather.
