The ATH-M50X's closed leatherette construction generates significant heat during long studio sessions. Dekoni's Elite Gel addresses this mechanically: the cooling gel layer draws heat away from the ear contact surface and distributes it across the pad, keeping the ear cup temperature measurably lower than conventional memory foam.
For engineers and producers who use the M50X for extended sessions, the thermal difference is practical. The gel construction maintains the closed-back seal the M50X's monitoring character depends on, without the heat accumulation that makes long leatherette sessions uncomfortable.
