The Fostex T50RP is the most-modified semi-planar headphone in existence. For roughly thirty years it has served as the base platform for DIY headphone modification, and an entire cottage industry has grown around improving its stock performance. Dekoni's pads are the professional option in that ecosystem: tested, consistent, and drop-in.
The T50RP, T40RP, and T20RP all use the same round ear cup. The stock leatherette pads compress unevenly and eventually need replacing regardless of modification status.
Available materials
Elite Velour: High-grade velour, memory foam fill. The acoustically neutral pick for a headphone that is usually used modded and tuned to specific preferences. Velour does not impose acoustic character; it simply provides better foam support and durability than worn stock pads. For modders who have already dialled in their preferred sound, this maintains that without interference.
Elite Sheepskin: Real sheepskin, solid face. Seals the T50RP's cups more firmly, which raises bass output and reduces the semi-open bleed that the stock pads contribute. On an unmodded T50RP, sheepskin reinforces the low end considerably. On a modded unit, the acoustic effect depends on the modification.
