Focal's high-end lineup shares a common cup geometry across the Utopia, Clear, ClearMG, Stellia, Elear, Celestee, and Radiante models. These are serious headphones in a serious price tier, and the stock pads are good. Replacing them with Dekoni's Elite range is not a necessity — it is a choice about how you want the headphone to perform over time and what character you want to emphasise.
Available materials
Elite Velour: High-grade velour, memory foam fill. The acoustically conservative option. For the open-back models (Utopia, Clear, Elear), velour preserves the wide soundstage and treble extension that makes them worth the investment. Drop-in with no tuning compromise.
Elite Sheepskin: Real sheepskin, solid face. On the open-back Focal models, sheepskin closes down the presentation noticeably: more bass, less air, narrower stage. For the closed Stellia or Celestee, the effect is less dramatic. Worth trying if you find the Elear's upper-midrange emphasis fatiguing, where added low-end balance can help.
Elite Fenestrated Sheepskin: Perforated sheepskin. The balanced option for an open-back platform: leather construction with enough perforation to maintain the soundstage width that the Clear and Utopia are designed around. The most technically appropriate choice for listeners who want a leather pad that does not close down the Focal presentation.
Elite Hybrid: Velour face, leather surrounds. Open acoustic character with thermal management. Focal's open-back headphones invite long listening sessions; reducing ear temperature during those sessions without changing the tuning is a practical benefit.
