The Meze 99 Classic put Meze on the audiophile map: a closed-back dynamic driver headphone with a distinctive walnut cup and a warm, musical tuning that prioritised enjoyment over strict accuracy. The 99 Neo and 99 Noir followed with similar geometry at different price points. All three use the same ear cup and the same Dekoni pad option.
Dekoni's Elite Sheepskin for the 99 series uses real sheepskin leather over memory foam, cut to the Meze's specific cup geometry. The stock pads are leather-look synthetic material that eventually degrades; sheepskin is a genuine upgrade in both material quality and longevity. The 99's warm, bass-present tuning is reinforced by a leather pad that seals the cup firmly -- the combination works rather than fighting the headphone's character.
