The Shure Aonic 50 is aimed at professionals who want a wireless ANC headphone with a more neutral tuning than most consumer-oriented competitors: less bass emphasis than Sony's XM series, more accurate midrange, and Shure's professional audio heritage behind the driver selection. The stock pads are leatherette over foam. They seal adequately when new. Dekoni's Choice range replaces them when they do not.
Available materials
Choice Leather: Protein leather over memory foam. Maintains the closed ANC seal the Aonic 50 requires. The neutral-leaning Aonic 50 tuning is complemented by leather's modest bass reinforcement; the result is a more balanced presentation than the stock leatherette provides over time. More durable and easier to clean than the stock material.
Choice Suede: Microsuede, memory foam fill. More breathable and cooler against the ear than leather. The Aonic 50's relatively neutral signature is preserved by suede's lighter acoustic character. Worth it for users who find the Aonic 50 gets uncomfortable during extended wear due to heat.
