The Sony WH-1000XM3 was the headphone that established Sony's dominance in the consumer ANC market for several years: effective noise cancellation, comfortable design, and a consumer-tuned sound that prioritised bass weight and smoothness. The stock leatherette pads are integral to the ANC seal. When they degrade, both comfort and ANC performance suffer. Dekoni's Choice range replaces them with materials that maintain the seal while lasting longer.
Available materials
Choice Leather: Protein leather over memory foam. Maintains the firm ANC seal and the bass-forward character of the WH-1000XM3. Memory foam adapts to the ear rather than compressing against it, reducing pressure hotspots during long commutes. More durable than the stock leatherette.
Choice Suede: Microsuede, memory foam fill. More breathable than leather. The suede face reduces the bass emphasis slightly and opens the top end. A reasonable trade if the stock WH-1000XM3 sound is already too bass-heavy for your preference or if you run warm.
