How these pads change the sound
The Beyerdynamic DT series is used for long sessions: monitoring, mixing, reference listening. The stock velour pads are fine until they are not, at which point the options include standard memory foam or Dekoni's Elite Gel construction.
The Gel pad replaces standard memory foam with a cooling gel layer against the ear. The gel draws heat away from the contact surface and distributes it across the pad, which keeps the ear-cup temperature noticeably lower during extended wear. The effect is practical rather than marginal: if DT-series pads get hot during long sessions, this addresses the mechanism directly rather than working around it.
